Ingo

Ingo
by: KK
Ingo is an amazing story full of wonder and excitement by Helen Dunmore.  Can you imagine your father leaving without any warning? Well this happened to Saphy. Everybody thinks he got into a boat accident and died but Saphy knows in her heart that he is not dead and she would know in her heart if he was. And it was not until she gets drawn to the sea like a magnet that she is positive where her father is. Away in Ingo. This is a story that widens your imagination and makes you feel for the time that you are reading this book that everything you read is true. This book is full of mystery and magic and you always want to know what is going to happen next. I highly recommend this book.

I loved her writing style in this book because of her vivid imagery. She barely uses a lot of detail but when she does it’s in the most perfect way. When she describes something you can see it so vividly in your mind.
I bend down and stare into the mirror. The glass is old, and when you look into it
it’s like looking into another world. The mirror is spotted and tarnished, and
its light is green, like underwater. My face in the mirror is pale, and my hair
hangs over my shoulders like seaweed. The color of my eyes is swallowed
up in huge black pupils. Do I really look like that?
This paragraph is one of the best described paragraphs in this book. You can clearly see this mirror and how she feels about how unlike herself she looks. You can tell that this is an important part of this book.

I had many different experiences while reading this book. While reading this book I found myself getting a little emotional because her dad left and her mom has to work a lot  and to add on to those sad things the kids at school are talking behind her back. They are talking about how they think that her dad ran off with another woman. When I was reading this book I wanted to be a little kid again because I wanted to pretend and imagine. This book is filled with emotion and imagination.
Anyone who likes fantasy would love this book. I would recommend this to mostly kids because it has a lot of make believe and you have to use your imagination. This book is for people who likes rich vocabulary but still likes little kid story lines. If I was rating this from 1-10 it would be a solid 9.
