The Scorpio Races
By: SW.
“It is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.” This is the first sentence of a mind blowing adventure called The Scorpio Races
by Maggie Stiefvater. Maggie made me feel like I was right there in the
book, watching everything. She used great word choice and blended two
peoples life to make them connected in a way.
The setting is well introduced and explained that is shows a mental picture that flashes in my mind throughout the whole book.
By
the afternoon, the sun is strong but cold on the beach. The wind tears
the surface of the blue-black sea into a thousand white caps. Up on the
cliffs, there is a silhouette of a crowd, watching the pale road of sand
between them and the ocean.
As
you can see Maggie explains the setting very well. The lines in the
paragraph tell you what the sun is like and what the color of the sea in
the weather is like. She makes you feel like you were transported to
the book and you’re in the silhouetted crowd watching the pale road of
sand.
While
I was reading this book I could not stop reading it.I noticed that my
eyes were bulging while they opened the gates to the races and the
horses took off. I was always upset when I had to stop reading because
it drew me in on the first line that I read. When I read this book
Maggie threw in a turn when you would least expect it. This book kept me
reading.
I
rated this book ten out of ten stars because it blew my mind away with
all its suspense and turns in the twists throughout the whole book. I
wish she would write a sequel. My final thoughts on this book would be
read it. This book will make you gasp and smile and wonder. The Scorpio Races is a ten out of ten star book.
This sounds like a really good book and now I want to read it. Great word choice by the way.
